The 3 Ways Of Going Solar.
There are only 3 ways to go solar and none of them are free.
Read below:
Buying/Finance To Own – It’s pretty straight forward, you either pay cash for the system or you finance the system. Keep reading below and I’ll explain the secret charges solar companies and finance companies don’t tell you about that you need to look out for!
Leasing – Leasing allows you to install a system usually at $0 up-front and you simply make monthly payments for the equipment, without actually ever owning the system.
Power Purchase Agreement – A PPA allows you to get a system installed with $0 money down, but the catch is you pay a fixed price per kilowatt hour for the energy that is produced by the system. A little different from the lease and usually the best way to go if you don’t want to purchase a system right away, because with this option, you have the option to buy the system after 5 years.
These are the only 3 ways you can go solar
Almost forgot, here’s the secret charges that solar companies and finance companies don’t tell you.
– Finance Charges MASKED as DEALER FEES!
It is CRITICAL that you ask for the CASH PRICE when looking at financing options even if you don’t intend to purchase the system cash. Reason being is, when you do that, most solar companies will be caught off-guard and will show you a price that’s 30% cheaper as they didn’t have time to go manipulate the proposal to make the cash price look closer to the finance charge.

What is Price Per Watt?
Price Per Watt is a simple measurement that’s calculated by taking the total cost of the system and dividing it by the number of watts of capacity of the system (Ex. 5kW system is 5,000 watts, so a $30,000 would be $30,000/5,000 watts = $6.00 Per Watt. WAY overpriced system!)
Why is this important? This is important because a big thing you want to do is Google the average Price Per Watt for your city and then compare that price to the price the company is quoting you. Make sure you compare the Financed PPW and the Cash option PPW. This will help guide you whether you’re OVERPAYING or NOT!
Something to take into consideration is the FEDERAL ITC SOLAR TAX CREDIT! This can help reduce the PPW of your system.
Federal Solar Tax Credit – As long as you qualify, this federal tax credit is worth 30% of the total cost of your solar energy system (including equipment and labor)
OTHER BENEFITS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SOLAR!
Net Energy Metering (A.K.A Value Of Solar for Texas) – Depending on your utility company, sell your excess energy back to the utility company, putting money back in your pocket.
Property Tax Exemption – Despite the increase in property value (average of 4.1% according to Zillow), in states like Texas and Florida, your property taxes won’t budge.
Solar Rebates – Utility companies sometimes offer rebates on solar panels, making your switch to solar even more affordable. We’ll help you determine if you qualify.

We’re a company founded by regular people who were sick and tired of hearing the misinformation delivered to homeowners by shady sales reps just so they can make a sale. We realized this was happening after seeing behind the scenes at past solar companies we worked for, and we were shocked at this behavior.
You may have seen Ads promising things like “the government will fund your system” or “your entire system will be free and you’ll never have an electric bill again” – these are sales tactics used by many solar salespeople, and are simply false.
